Earlier this week I received my complimentary Nexxus VoxBox from Influenster. The Nexxus VoxBox contained the Nexxus Humectress Intense Hydrating Masque.
Nexxus Humectress Intense Hydrating Masque
This hydrating masque is promoted to be a moisturizing solution for normal to dry hair. It also promises deep hair hydration that will last for 24 hours. This masque also utilizes a protein complex, so if your hair is sensitive to protein please use sparingly. The Nexxus Humectress Intense Hydrating Masque came in a single use packet.
The consistency of the masque was a bit weird when I first opened the packet. It was watery but “chunky.” I shook the packet a little and consistency was the normal creamy consistency of most hair masque. (It may have separated because of the heat while shipping). The smell was very distinct, but it is not off-putting or overbearing. It is not a fruity smell. It is more on the chemical side. The smell doesn’t linger after rinsing the masque out.
How Did I Use the Intense Hydrating Masque?
I shampooed my hair with Ouidad’s Water Works Clarifying Shampoo. I normally do a clarifying wash before doing a hair masque or intense treatment. This allows my hair to absorb all the effects of the product fully and removes any product build-up.
Apply Nexxus Humectress Intense Hydrating Masque.
While my hair was still soaking wet, I applied a small amount of the mask to my hair. I spread the small amount throughout the entire length of my hair. It’s okay if it doesn’t cover every strand, the next step will ensure even coverage.
Divide Hair into Small Sections and Finger-Detangle.
I would take a small section of hair, add more water and a pea-sized amount of the Nexxus Humectress Intense Hydrating Masque. Then, I would finger-detangle the entire section. Finger-detangling with conditioner in gives me more defined curls once I get to the styling step. It is also a gentler way to detangle. I repeated this step until all my hair was coated and detangled.
Let the Masque Work Its Magic
Let the masque sit for five to ten minutes.
I rinsed my hair with cool water. I don’t “disturb” my hair during this step. I just let the water run over it, till the water is clear (meaning no residual product). Manipulating your hair during this step can create tangles, which would be a major let down after the time you just spent detangling it.
While my hair is still soaking wet, I apply my styling products:
- Miss Jessie’s Leave In Condish
- Miss Jessie’s Baby ButterCreme
- Ouidad Advanced Climate Control Heat and Humidity Gel
And then air dry. Again I try not to mess with the curls to avoid any tangles. I smooth the products through from the roots to the end, focusing more on the ends. Then let my curls do their thing.
My hair had a very lustrous look and feel after rinsing my hair. It also didn’t have an oily residue. I am writing this post on day three post wash, and my hair is still very moisturized and defined. I have not added any additional product since wash day.
